Yoga for the Stages of Menopause

Yoga for the Stages of Menopause – facilitated by Sue Paffrath. Weekly classes will take place on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 8.45 pm. Please contact Sue for booking details.

The purpose of Sue’s new class, ‘Yoga for the Stages of Menopause’ is to support, empower and advocate for women during this period of their lives, through the practice of yoga. With the hope that women will become more informed about what is going on in their bodies and mind, developing insights into what are normal struggles, they can live with, and perhaps struggles that they will need help with. The class will incorporate a range of yoga practices aimed at nourishing the changing needs of our bodies from a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual perspective.

As a woman in her 40s, with a changing body and perspective, Sue has become acutely aware of the challenges that face women, as a result of menopause. She believes that women seem to silently struggle as islands, with little support from their peers or society, because menopause is not openly discussed. Whatever the reason may be; societal prejudices, judgement or ignorance, Sue strongly believes that we need to start a conversation about women’s hormonal lives, to improve awareness of, and to demystify menopause.

Sue Paffrath Bio

Sue has been teaching part-time since 2013, having completed a 500 hour Diploma in Yoga Teaching with Yoga Therapy Ireland, which is accredited with the Yoga Alliance. In addition to this, she has completed a 16 month training to become a Yoga Therapist, so that she can work one to one with people, or in therapy groups, using yoga to help with specific problems. Owing to this training, she was able to spend a year teaching yoga to a group of recovering alcoholics with the Dublin Simon Community. An experience, where she learned a great deal and one she immensely enjoyed. During the day, she works as a Renal Nurse Specialist, and has an honours degree in Natural Science from Trinity College, Dublin.
