“It’s the mind who paints the world.” — Buddha
While we all have the potential for inner peace, happiness and freedom there are two kinds of obstacles that prevent us from being in touch with our innate potential. The first is our afflictions such as fear, anger or despair and the second obstacle is our wrong views and ideas. Because we are so attached to our ideas and views we do not have the freedom to touch life as it truly is.
During this weekend we will learn about various teachings and practices of the Buddha and Thay that strengthen our openness and increase our awareness of clinging to views of all kinds. We will practise acknowledging our views without attaching to them, remaining open to other perspectives and insights while also touching the joy of an open heart and mind. Within these practices we will find ways of taking care of the various emotions that arise so that we can discover pathways that lead to happiness, peace and freedom.
